Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Direct Hire)

Compensation: $145,000.00 – $160,000.00 base salary (Signing bonus negotiable)

Relocation: Partial relocation assistance package available

Travel: Up to 20%

Reports To: Assistant Vice President (AVP)

Position Overview

On behalf of our client, a prominent enterprise healthcare organization, Wisdom RecruitmentS is seeking an experienced, highly strategic Director of Payroll. This executive leadership role will oversee enterprise-wide payroll operations for a complex, multi-state infrastructure supporting approximately 55,000 corporate and healthcare employees nationwide.

The ideal candidate will balance exceptional operational excellence with advanced technical systems optimization. In addition to leading a large payroll team, you will serve as the functional Oracle Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), partnering closely with HR, Finance, and IT to drive post-go-live stabilization, system enhancements, and process automation.

Key Responsibilities

➤ Operational Leadership: Direct enterprise-wide, multi-state payroll functions across a complex healthcare ecosystem, ensuring flawless compliance and accuracy across multiple high-volume payroll cycles.

➤ Team Management: Provide strategic direction and mentorship to an organization consisting of 2 Payroll Managers and approximately 40 indirect corporate team members.

➤ System Optimization (Oracle Cloud): Serve as the functional business lead for Oracle Payroll. Oversee post-go-live activities, including quarterly release testing, payroll validation, troubleshooting, and continuous configuration enhancement.

➤ Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner alongside HRIS, IT, and Finance teams to lead technological transformations, system reporting modifications, and the strategic insourcing of matured payroll functions.

➤ Process Transformation: Identify, design, and execute continuous process improvements and automation workflows within a shared services environment to elevate operational efficiencies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

✅ Citizenship Requirement: Must be a US Citizen currently residing in the United States.

✅ Experience: 10+ years of progressive, enterprise-level payroll leadership within large, complex corporate or shared services organizations (supporting 30,000+ employees preferred).

✅ Technical Mastery: Proven, hands-on operational experience with Oracle Payroll (Oracle Fusion Payroll / Oracle Payroll Cloud).

✅ Post-Implementation Ownership: Demonstrated track record handling post-go-live Oracle Payroll cycles, including quarterly testing, system enhancements, troubleshooting, and payroll validation.

✅ Compliance: Extensive experience executing multi-state payroll regulations, taxation, and general ledger (GL) accounting reconciliation.

Preferred Qualifications

✔️ Industry Experience: Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred.

✔️ Systems: Deeper familiarity with the broader Oracle HCM suite.

✔️ Experience steering organizations through payroll process automation and operational shared-services optimization.
