Wisdom RecruitmentS is seeking a highly skilled Manager, Application Development to lead a core development team for our U.S.-based financial services client. This is a unique opportunity to design, build, and support vendor-packaged and custom internal solutions that enhance the company’s core banking platform (Symitar).
The ideal candidate will be an initiator—self-motivated, creative, and accountable—with a strong software engineering discipline and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team. This role requires an excellent problem-solver with strong analytical and interpersonal skills who can balance efficiency with effectiveness.
What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)
➤ Manage and supervise a core development team across various scrum teams and business lines.
➤ Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure project delivery.
➤ Foster a supportive, team-oriented work environment that promotes professional development, diversity, and collaboration.
➤ Serve as a subject matter expert in design and development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
➤ Implement continuous improvement processes for application management and seek feedback to identify areas for enhancement.
➤ Define design patterns, review code, and ensure solutions adhere to company standards for coding, compliance, and information security.
➤ Work with external vendors to manage and influence integrated solutions.
➤ Manage a team of Application Developers (Symitar Core Developers).
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
✅ 6 or more years of experience with financial institution technologies, including Jack Henry (Symitar, Synapsys, Synergy, SymXchange, ARCU), MeridianLink, Encompass, Alkami, COTS, Image Center, and OpCon.
✅ A Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
✅ Proven experience in a leadership and people management role, with a strong emphasis on coaching, mentoring, and motivating team members.
✅ A solid understanding of software development methodologies, version control, and testing practices.
✅ The ability to influence executive leadership.
✅ Knowledge of agile and iterative project management principles.
✅ A four-year college degree or equivalent work experience (B.S. in Computer Science is preferred).
✅ Hands-on experience developing, integrating, and supporting core banking applications (Symitar/PowerOn / RepGen).
✅ Experience with IBM’s AIX operating system.
✅ Knowledge of SQL development for relational databases, HTML, and JavaScript.
✅ Knowledge of the ITIL framework and experience with implementing engineering processes and procedures.
