Location: Raleigh, NC, United States (ZIP: 27601)

Job Type: Long-Term Contract (Approx. 13.5 Months) | Onsite

Work Status: Must be authorized to work for the duration of the contract (402 days).

Location: Must be based near Raleigh, NC, and prepared to work fully onsite.

Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 hrs/week), Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST Compensation: $50.00 – $55.00 USD per hour

Residency: Must be a U.S. Citizen (USC) or Green Card Holder (GC).

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our client’s team in Raleigh, NC. This is an essential onsite contract role focused on supporting the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical enterprise platforms.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise across cloud infrastructure, operating systems, and modern observability practices. This position requires a disciplined, engineering-focused mindset to consistently drive operational excellence through automation, metrics, and continuous improvement across complex, high-availability systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a hands-on engineer, you will focus on building resilience and reducing operational toil:

Reliability Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain highly reliable, scalable, and secure systems across cloud (Azure) and on-prem environments.

Automation & IaC: Build and improve automation workflows using scripting (Python, Go, Bash) and develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions with tools like Terraform and Ansible.

Systems Management: Manage and optimize distributed systems running on platforms such as Azure, Linux (RHEL7+), and Windows Server (2019+).

Performance & Observability: Define, monitor, and refine SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs to ensure consistent service quality. Integrate systems with observability platforms for full operational visibility.

Incident Response: Lead structured incident response efforts, troubleshoot complex issues under pressure, and conduct detailed post-mortem analyses.

Collaboration: Collaborate closely with software engineering and business teams to deliver resilient and performant services.

Required Expertise

SRE Background: Proven professional experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, with a strong background in software engineering, infrastructure, or operations.

Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and enterprise operating systems (Linux RHEL7+, Windows Server 2019+).

Scripting & IaC: Proficiency in automation scripting (Python, Go, Bash) and practical experience with Terraform or Ansible.

Networking & Identity: Strong understanding of networking, storage technologies (NFS, SAN, NAS), and authentication/naming services (DNS, LDAP, Kerberos, Centrify).

Metrics: Demonstrated ability to design and monitor SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and drive reliability improvements through metrics.

Mindset: Ability to remain calm and structured during high-pressure incidents; proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.
